Day 4 we took a ferry from Ometepe ack to San Jorge. On the way we met an Australian named Jesse who was fluent in Spanish, and very helpful. He was also on his way to Granada, so we took a taxi with him to the bus station in Rivas, where we hoped on another chicken bus to Granada. Granada is a really cool city. We stayed at Hotel Oasis, really nice hostel with a pool! Who needs a shower?!
We walked around Granada the first night, there was a festival going on and the running of the bulls. We missed the bull, but we saw all the people chasing after it! haha.
Day 5 we took a boat tour on Lake Nicaragua. The lake is full of Isletas... you can buy an island for something crazy like 70 grand. I may never come home! We also saw Monkey Island... it's this island owned by a vet, and he put his monkeys on it. The funny part is that some monkeys escaped and started their own "real" monjey island! No one knows how they got to the other island though, because monkeys don't swim...
Day 6 we went over to another hostel, and caught a bus to Laguna de Apoyo, which is a HUGE crater created by a volcano that filled with water. Someone created a resort there called The Monkey Hut. It was really nice. They had lounge chairs, kayaks, dingys, and pizza! Great afternoon.
Today we made our way to San Jose, Costa Rica. We took an 8 hour Tica bus here... but we made it. The border crossing wasn't bad at all. "Just follow the person in front of you" is the advice we keep getting!
