Well we took a bus, then a ferry, then a bus, then two planes and then two more buses and we made it from Santa Teresa, Costa Rica to Buenos Aires, Argentina on Day 27! The plane was really fun because we had movies and a meal! I am clearly easily amused. We stayed at The Milhouse in Buenos Aires... Pretty much a constant party. We had some amazing people stay in our dorm with us during the week. People from Sweden, Brazil, Isreal, Switerland... all over the place! The hostel has free tango lessons, and holds a pre-party almost every night which ends at 2am and then a shuttle brings you to the 'happening' bar of the night wbere you dance until 6am. So one night we went to one of the most popular gay bars called Club 69... Fitting eh? Another night we went to Crobar (well kinda... story for another time.) The bars are jammed packed and everyone is dancing the night away. Quite the culture shock for me to go from relaxed Costa Rica to flamboyant BA. But we didn't JUST party... We went to Palmero for awesome local artisan markets and Recoleta to see the church and cemetery, but unfortunately it was closed. Oh and we went to see an amazing and HOT tango show. We also learned some fabulous tango moves!
Day 32 we took a break from the giant city and went to Cordoba... We met these 3 chicas who basically gave us a free tour of the city. We went to Sarmiento Park which was so beautiful... Later in the evening we went to the open air market. It's so funny because everything was closed on a Sunday, but all the local artisans and vendors fill the streets (in front of the closed storefronts) selling everything you can imagine... including underwear. Oh yeah.
So Day 33 was pretty incredible. We went to Alta Gracia which has Museo Casa Che Guevara. It's the house Che lived in for quite a few years before we got on his bicycle and started travelling around Argentina. They had awesome pictures, letters and other artifacts. Really amazing to see. And we had lunch before that next door at Cafe Cubana. The sweetest couple who owned it served us a typical Cuban meal. It was excellent. After that we traveled to Carlos Paz, a beautiful city where we stayed for a night. I am currently on a 11 hour bus ride back to Buenos Aires!
